The real reason you feel tired
Fatigue is such a big problem, it’s rare that I don’t meet a client who isn’t feeling tired amongst whatever else is going on for them.
But finding out what is behind the tiredness is key to then working out what to do to address it.
There can be so many reasons why people feel tired, and often it’s just not one thing making you tired.
But if you can find out some of the main reasons and put them right it can be a game changer.
That’s where I can help. We all know the problem of going to the GP and being told you can only discuss one problem. And often that’s the symptom that is bothering you the most – the endometriosis pain, heavy bleeding or PMS symptoms and so you don’t even get to mention the fatigue.
Or if you do mention it, you have blood tests but get told everything has come back normal – and so you are just left feeling tired.
In nutritional therapy we want to know all the different symptoms you’re experiencing so we can piece together the picture of what is going on. That’s why my first appointments are 90 minutes so we’ve got time to do this.
I often recommend blood tests, but instead of just using the NHS cut off points, I’m looking at levels that are below optimal – as that is enough to make you tired. And I make sure that everything you really need testing – things like vitamin D – have been included.
Take a recent client, who’d had years of unexplained fatigue that really affected her life. We got some blood tests done and sure enough her ferritin levels were low. Not low enough for anaemia and so her GP hadn’t mentioned it, but low enough to make her tired all the time. Finally, she had her answer. This is what she said:
“I’m ever so grateful for your help and your recommendation to get my iron levels checked”.
And literally a few weeks later one of my long-term clients who’d been doing really well came in for a follow-up appointment. She was feeling tired, was getting every bug going and was really struggling with the winter and her mood had dipped. Straight away that said low vitamin D to me, so we got a private test done and sure enough her levels were on the floor. Again, she now has her answer to move forward.
If you want your fatigue answer too, book in for my one off Hormone Intensive appointment where we can look at test results, food and supplements. Or if fatigue is part of a bigger health problem, book in for a free chat to find out how one of my packages of support can help.
