Knowing what to eat for endometriosis
There’s plenty of research to support the fact that what we eat can make a difference to endometriosis symptoms.
And if you google endometriosis diet you’ll see no end of information come up about what you should and shouldn’t be eating.
But how easy do you find putting this advice into practice and knowing what to eat to manage your endometriosis symptoms on a day to day basis?
Well if you’re the same as me when I started using food to manage my endometriosis symptoms 20 years ago, the answer would have been ‘very hard’.
By the time I got round to trying to change my diet to manage my endometriosis symptoms, it was a last resort. I’d tried the pill, had a laparoscopy but nothing seemed to work. I had constant day and night pain and even walking to the end of the road was difficult. I was popping painkillers all day that only took the edge off the pain. So, on the one hand I was super motivated to make changes. If you’d have told me there was even a slight chance something would have made a difference, I’d have done it.
But I was also really tired, I had constant pain and hadn’t got the headspace to think about doing anything differently. So making changes to my diet felt hard. Suddenly all my quick, go to meals were no longer an option and I had to really think about what I could eat. Shopping took longer as I had to read the labels of everything in the supermarket. And I restricted so many foods I felt like I was missing out of eating anything enjoyable.
I kept going and in the end, I got results, but the process could have been a lot easier than it was.
I know lot’s of you struggle with this too and so that’s why I want to make it easier for you to make diet changes. Because if it’s hard, you can’t stick to it and then you won’t get the results you want.
So, I’m working on something behind the scenes that:
- Does some of the thinking for you about what to eat every day.
- Gives you quick and easy endometriosis meal ideas that are anti-inflammatory and hormone-balancing.
- Is not overly restrictive and full of foods that taste good.
- Is suitable for vegetarians and vegans too.
- Is largely gluten and dairy free and gives you alternatives for anything that does have some gluten or dairy in it.
But I’d like to know what you really struggle with when trying to eat to manage your endometriosis symptoms so that I can build this into what I’m putting together.
Just drop me an email to let me know what you find the hardest and I’ll try and build it in and come up with a suggestion.
