Can’t take HRT but getting perimenopause symptoms?
If you’re in the midst of perimenopause symptoms, then for some people HRT can be a life saver in stopping all those sleepless nights, hot flushes, night sweats and low mood.
But if like me you can’t take HRT, it can leave you feeling a bit desperate and like you don’t have any option but to endure all the symptoms perimenopause throws up.
But you do have other options if you can’t take HRT.
The first thing is to work out what the symptoms are that are bothering you the most and what might be driving them. Then we can work out what we can put in place to help support that.
For me, the number one thing that was making everything worse was stress. I’d been getting through perimenopause quite well with minimal symptoms. Then I started a new job, my stress levels went through the roof and all of a sudden I started getting really bad hot flushes, which is not a great look in the office when you’ve just started a new job! So I’ve really had to focus on lifestyle factors like having a calming evening routine before bed, doing more yoga, doing breathing exercises every day and really thinking about how I manage and respond to stress. I have also put in quite a few supplements to help too and those hot flushes are no longer an issue.
I had a client with really bad hot flushes and the key things for her were balancing her blood sugar levels with food and putting in lots of hormone supporting foods and supplements. Sure enough with time, her symptoms improved.
So whether it’s getting the right supplement in place for you, helping you choose the right foods to give you the nutrients you need to support your body through perimenopause or giving you the lifestyle tips and strategies to help you manage without HRT, I can help.
